Wow, the basic description here says a lot. So . . . what to add?

OK, you may notice, I list layout as both a 'pro' and 'con'. Overall, it's a interesting layout. The front nine lie mostly on the North ('to the right' as you face the course from the clubhouse). Numbers 4 and 8 (the two par 3s on the front nine) virtually share a teeing ground. (OK, they're side-by-side.) Otherwise, mostly pleasant, but little that's memorable, other than that three of the four par 5s are on the front nine. And, while the course is situated between Browns Lake and the Fox River, neither one of them is much in evidence or in view on the front nine.

The back nine (to the left, South) first two holes take you back toward the river. Number 11 features a green on a hill which falls away on three sides, so you need to hit and stick on the green. Pin placement can make this tricky. You then drop down to #12 tee which (as the description mentions) is a par 3 crossing the river to a green surrounded by trees. Confidence (and skill) will be required keep the nerves at bay to nail the green here. Numbers 13-15 thread through the woods across the river (mostly out of sight from fairways). Number 16 (men's) has you tee across the water. (Ladies cross the bridge to tee.) Your first shot on this par 4 will take you somewhere near the base of a good rise to the green. The front of this green is severely sloped, so balls will often roll off the green here. Pin placements can be cruel when on the front half! Number 17 (par 3, 203yd) starts from well up on the hill to a green nestled in a corner of trees. A fenced-in, well-treed private yard flanks the right (so errant shots become property of that owner).

So, my 'lasting impression' of this course seems mostly shaped by greens contours and pin placements, which can make your day either more simple or totally frustrating!
